USING AND MAKING FACE MASKS
Carleton Transport requires drivers and other employees to wear face masks in settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g. office spaces, customer locations, gas stations, truck stops, grocery stores and pharmacies). Carleton Transport will supply drivers with disposable face masks, cloth face masks and mask-making supplies. See below for guidance on how to properly use and make face masks.
Why are Carleton Transport and our customers requiring face masks?
Wearing a face mask not only protects you, but can also be life-saving to others since all of us can be carriers of COVID-19 while not showing any symptoms. Wearing a mask when you're a carrier and don't know it can stop the spread of the virus to those around you. This graphic from Bryan Health illustrates how wearing masks can lower the risk of spreading COVID-19.
How To Wear A Mask
Tips from the World Health Organization
Before putting on a mask, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
Cover mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.
To remove the mask: remove it from behind (do not touch the front of mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
